Class #1 Where do you go when you die?

What do you do that can be called "wrapping"? Give examples and reasons for your actions.
When i give a present for my friends or someone, I ask shop assistant wrapping. This reason why present is a not mine. I buy a something for a gift to my friend. So, I need wrapping.

Where do you go when you die?
I think we go to a completely different area? world?? from here.
When i was a child, my grand father died. My mother said to me, "Grandpa went to the field of flowers." I can meet my grand father at the field of flowers again when i die, I think.

Explain why do Japanese have death memorial services 1 month, 1 year, 3 years, 7 years, etc. after a person's death?
I'm not sure why do we death memorial services, i checked with 広辞苑.
At Japanese Buddhism, It is thought to "Death"="Newborn". So, we celebrate and grieve for the deceased 1 year, 3 years, 7 years, etc.
I think we have death mamorial services for we dont forget person who died.

Class #2 Death and Funerals

1.Death and Funerals:
a. Do you have any international friends or a host family? If so, how would you express your condolences to them if a family member died? If not, then how would you express condolences to an American host family if their Grandmother died?
- Yes, i do. I have my host family in UK. If my host family member died, i will feel really sad. And i want to say "Thank you" to the person who died.
b. Have you ever been to a foreign funeral?
No, I haven't. I have ever been some Japanese funerals.

2. The language of Clothes (preparation for next weeks topic):
a.Why are Japanese designer label crazy? Why is what you wear so important?
-I'm not sure why are Japanese designer label crazy exactly... I think most Japanese people think high-bland things are good. and I think it is look nice to have designer labels.
I don't have a beautiful face, nice body type and etc... So, clothes are important for me!! I want to be a fashionable person.

b.What does “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” mean to you?
For example, there is a woman has black hair, wearing glasses, has any accessaries...etc.
Some people might think "She must be a power tool(gari-ben)! She always just study!!"
But...actually, she works in a cabaret club every night!!!
Its "Don't judge a book by it's cover." I think.

Homework Name & Addresses

Hi!! long time no see...
i am not good at PC. so, i sometimes cant write blogs well :(

1.Are feelings, emotions and facial expressions universal across borders, happy, sad, etc..?

I think 'yes'. but i think also its difficult.
I think it is easy to tell some feelings like happy, sad or something. Because we can explain such feelings with our smail or tears.
'mukatuku' is hard to say in English. I think 'mukatuku' is not so serious.
Japanese has many expressions or words which are has dubious (曖昧な)meanings.

2. Try to name as many feelings as possible in Japanese. ( 10 minimum) Then, write the English translation.

-楽しい Happy
-悲しい Sad
-嬉しい pleased/happy
-わくわくする excited
-いらいらする irritate
-おもしろい fun
-どきどきする Beat
-退屈する bored
-がっかりする depressed
-だるい lazy/tired
-緊張する nervous

3. Are there any feelings in Japanese that cannot be translated into English?

i think 'mukatuku' is a littel diffrent just 'angry'.
'Otsukaresama' is hard to translated into English.

homework

How do you greet in your life? Is it different for different people?
How so and why? Do you touch people when you talk to them? why? or why not?

I think it will change depends on situation or people.
forexample, when i meet my friends, i greet them "yahho-!!" something like that. and i will wave my hand. On the other hand, when i meet people like a teacher or stranger, i say "konnichiha" and bow.

I dont touch people when i talk to stranger or person who is i dont know so much.
if i talk with my friends or families, i touch their hand or something!
But i never hug!!!
